Congratulations to SARA Alumni, Jenny Berggren wins the Minerva Scholarship 2024!

“Jenny Berggren was born in Håkmark, lives in Umeå and studied at The Swedish Academy of Realist Art (SARA). In addition to her artistic activities, Jenny Berggren runs Atrium Förlag and works as a librarian in Sävar.
Jenny Berggren has illustrated a wide range of books and other visual works, both in children’s and adult literature, and her illustrations range from fairy tale books to historical depictions.” Umeå Kommun
The Culture Committee’s motivation reads: “Jenny Berggren is awarded the Minerva Scholarship for her many years of significant contribution to Umeå’s cultural life. Through her unique visual language, she has the ability to create visual works that speak directly to both heart and mind. Her skill in realistic painting and illustration is combined with a fine sense of the poetic and dreamlike. Through her work at Atrium Förlag, she also demonstrates a strong social commitment to making art and literature accessible to all ages. Therefore, she is a worthy recipient of the grant.”
