Traditional Realistic Drawing and Painting 3-year program, KK0004
Below is the application form for the comprehensive 3-year full-time program Traditional Realistic Drawing and Painting, KK0004.
As this is a unique fine-art education, it is very important to us that all applicants are certain that the education and training offered by SARA is what they want. Therefore, we ask all applicants to read through the website carefully to gain a clear understanding of the education offered. Applicants are encouraged to visit the school personally, if possible, and talk directly to students and faculty as it is important to us that each student integrates well into the student body. Typically, a successful applicant has given thoughtful answers, is passionate about realistic art and SARA’s method of training and displays clear artistic potential and engagement.
Important to keep in mind:
If you are applying from a country outside of the EU you will need to apply for a Residence Permit to study in Sweden. For more information about how to apply for a Residence Permit, visit the Swedish Migration Agency website for Other studies.
Application deadline:
There are typically two application rounds during each school year, one from October (for the spring term starting in January) and one from April (for the fall term starting in September), but applications can be sent in throughout the year and early submission can in some cases be granted if the admission board is in agreement.
The admissions board consists of one co-founder of SARA, the Headmaster, and one member of the teacher kollegium.
Entrance requirements:
Basic eligibility can be obtained by the applicant through upper secondary studies, preparatory education, studies at a folk high school and in some cases also through self-directed learning. The applicant must also demonstrate a clear interest in artistic practice as well as a deeper engagement in realistic drawing and painting. There is no age limit for applicants.
Selection criteria:
– Artistic passion and dedication (a clear overall artistic interest, commitment and perseverance making it clear that this is a sincere interest and that the student is determined to follow through with their efforts)
– Specific interest in realistic art
– Understanding of the program’s structure and methodology
– Relevance between the education and career goals
– Artistic talent and skill (especially creativity, observational ability, fundamental technical skills in realistic drawing and painting and artistic potential)
All criteria are considered as a whole, but particular emphasis is placed on artistic potential and engagement, rather than already achieved technical proficiency. Visit SARA’s Before & After gallery to see the skill level previous students had when they began their studies and also the progress they made.
